Even clean eating health nuts get sick sometimes. I rarely turn to pharmaceutical drugs when I’m feeling unwell. In fact, I haven’t taken a pharmaceutical drug in years. I want to be clear that I am not against Western medicine but do believe antibiotics are overprescribed. When I feel like I’m getting sick I take a few precautionary measures.
First, I double down on vitamin C. Then I bring in my secret weapon: Symbiotics Immune Formula. This supplement was recommended to me by one of my holistic doctors. The key ingredient is Colostrum. Colostrum is present in the first feeding of nursing mammals and helps form an infants immune system. Colostrum supports your gut, reduces inflammation and stimulates your immune system. The colostrum in this product comes from cows. When I feel sick, I take 2 capsules 3 times a day on an empty stomach. It always takes the edge off and lessens my symptoms dramatically.

Second, I haul my tush to the food store and get fresh organic veggies and chicken (on the bone) to make a soup. Get my go-to chicken soup recipe here. The bone is crucial to make your own healing broth. Bone broth contains easily digested nutrients and supports your gut lining. Your gut makes up 70% of your immune system and bone broth can give it a boost. Plus, who doesn’t love a bowl of warm, comforting soup?
Next up, when I feel like I’m about to get sick I hit up an infrared sauna to sweat it out. Infrared saunas penetrate deep into your body at the cellular level flushing out toxins and such. It’s another great immune booster and can help with muscle aches and pains. Make sure you stay hydrated because you will SWEAT.
Lastly, I rest, rest and rest some more. Even though you might feel like Superman from your Symbiotic’s, super-charged healing soup and sweat session, it’s always a good idea to get extra rest. When I’m feeling run down or downright sick I do everything in my power to give my body the support it needs to do its thang.
Our immune systems can do amazing things when given the right tools. To recap, my under the weather toolbox includes vitamin C, Symbiotic’s Immune Formula, healing chicken soup, infrared sauna’s and rest. They haven’t let me down yet.
Stay well, my friends.
