Alright well tribe, my latest health obsession has been clean skincare products. The time has come to upgrade that coconut oil you are using as moisturizer. Not that there is anything wrong with coconut oil but there are so many other luxurious options to choose from. I spent all winter testing out various non-toxic skincare brands on my seriously dry face to carefully build a clean beauty arsenal.
I care deeply about what I expose my body to whether it’s what I eat or what I am applying to my body. Our skin is our largest organ so best be taking care of it! It’s never too late to start healthy habits.
I want to feel good about what I am layering on this body. When I review beauty products I ensure that they are paraben-free (preservative-free), cruelty-free and gluten-free. I will politely decline any preservatives or chemicals of any kind. Thanks, but no thanks! We are already exposed to enough environmental toxins each day. My beauty regimen is one thing I can control and every little bit counts.
First, I have been experimenting with face oil. There is nothing more soothing than taking a hot shower and slathering your face in oil afterwards. What I’ve learned from using oil is that it feels incredibly soothing and can help to reduce the amount of moisturizer you need by stretching smaller amounts. Oils can be pretty pricey but even the affordable ones can help. My favorites are In Fiore Calme Complexe Face Oil and Indie Lee’s Squalane Oil.
Next in my beauty regimen is moisturizer. I was on the hunt for the most hydrating and thick moisturizer there is. After sampling a variety of products I ended up with Therapi’s Rose Otto Propolis & Radiance Cream. It’s safe to say I succeeded in my hunt as this product is super thick! I used morning and night until my skin healed.
Now that the temperatures are warming up, I can switch to a lighter formula. I am currently using Osea’s Advanced Protection Cream. My skin feels hydrated and toned after each use.
Lastly, I tested out masks and exfoliators.
Tata Harpers Moisturizing Mask is like checking into a spa. You can apply this mask and leave it on overnight to wake up looking seriously refreshed. I also applied to my face before I boarded a flight to prevent my face from drying out. If you need a quick pick-me up THIS is the one.
Exfoliators can be very drying and sometimes straight up harsh. My face often breaks out and looks worse from many exfoliating products. My favorite exfoliator for sensitive and dry skin is Juara’s Radiance Enzyme Scrub. It helped to cleanse away impurities without stripping away my natural oils. My skin always looks significantly brighter after each use. This is my secret weapon. Shh, don’t tell anyone.
Are you ready to dive into the non-toxic skincare world? Everyday is a spa day with my new arsenal of clean products. Thanks to these emerging brands, I can continue living a clean lifestyle and have glowing, moisturized skin every day. It’s easier than ever and there are brands for every budget.
