Hey wellness friends. I was researching probiotics a few weeks ago after realizing I was using the same product for a few years. It’s important diversify the strains of bacteria as they all provide different support to your body.
I am always experimenting on myself and trying to support my bodies own ability to heal. I’m finally at the homestretch of my recovery after a 5 year journey. I was very sick and going through treatment for about 2.5 years and have been symptom free for the past 2+ years after healing myself holistically.
My blood work has slowly improved and almost back to normal for the first time since I started my journey. My IGE is still slightly above normal. IGE measures the inflammation response in your body. Once my IGE returns back to normal I will be able to test out the foods I became sensitive to as a result of illness.
Studies have shown probiotics may help reduce inflammation in your body and strengthen the immune system. They can also support healthy skin and even mood! I have regularly used probiotics throughout my healing but it has been a while since I changed up the strains I have taken.
After some nerdy researching, I came across Floratrex probiotics from the Global Healing Center. Floratrex contains 23 strains of bacteria plus pre-biotics! Pre-biotics help the probiotics flourish. It’s also vegan and gluten-free!
Even if you are not healing from illness it’s a good idea to maintain proper gut health.
Today our intestinal flora is compromised in many ways. Tap water contains chemicals to keep your water clean but that also affects your gut flora by killing off the good guys. Antibiotics are overprescribed by doctors killing off the bad and good bacteria in your gut. Farm animals are injected with antibiotics contaminating our food supply.
Personally, I supplement probiotics in addition to incorporating probiotic rich foods to ensure I stay balanced. Probiotic rich foods include kombucha (my health addiction), kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi.
Kombucha is a staple in my diet. Right now I’m obsessed with GT’s Guava Kombucha. So delicious!
Back to the topic! I decided to give Floratrex a try. As a health nut, I was sold when reading about strains I have never heard of before and their benefits.
Within the first week, I noticed it was quickly clearing up any breakouts on my skin. Who doesn’t love that?
By the second week, I started to feel a little sluggish, tired and a bit achey. From years of healing and detoxing, I know my body well and this was likely a healing reaction from the probiotics taking out the trash. This is the one time not feeling well actually excites me because it’s likely doing something good for my body.
I scaled back to 25 billion CFU’s versus the recommended dose of 50 billion CFU’s until I adjusted to avoid any further side effects. In case you were wondering, CFU stands for colony forming unit.
Overall, this is a super powerful product. I noticed changes within the first week of using this supplement. My skin looks clearer and brighter than usual. I can feel the probiotic working shortly after I take it. I’m going to stick with Floratrex for a while. Let’s see if this helps me kick my inflammation to the curb for good.
As always, it’s important to check with your doctor to make sure ANY product is right for you. Even probiotics!
Stay well peeps!
